Young Coders Summer Camp 2020
We invite young coders (age 10 to 14) to spend the week here learning how to code and how to live ecologically.
Kuckucksmuehle is part of the Eco Hacker Farm community, here we mix permaculture with hackerculture for sustainable living. We are a diverse community with 5 people living on site (3 from Germany, 1 from Malta and 1 from the UK) and volunteers from all over the world come and stay to help out with ongoing tasks and maintenance of the farm. As we are an international bunch we speak mostly English.
The program is designed around and with the participants so please do let us know your programming skills and what your interests are when you apply so that we have something for everyone. The idea is that we find practical uses for the code and prototypes we produce together during the camp that can be used on site and that anyone can reproduce elsewhere. All the code is open source and freely available online to be improved and adopted by others.
Program
The program is shaped in collaboration with the attendants and includes animal care, meal preparation and various programming languages and also non coding topics such as version control tools, prototyping, app design, different licenses etc.
Documentation
As we want to instill in our young coders - open source culture - we will encourage participants to record their experience, write good quality code and share it publicly on Gitlab and on this wiki.

A camp day starts at 9am and ends at 11pm (except on night walks we could be a little longer).
