We would like to carry out restoration of one of the buildings at Kuckucksmühle which would then serve as a multi purpose educational, art and culture venue for the region that would include:

• a living example of national heritage
• small theater productions
• video production space for films about the region
• art exhibitions
• stammtisch / community meetings
• international events / exchange of cultures
• …

The restoration of the old part of the mill will include:

• replacing the roof beams
• repair the roof
• install insulation
• install electrical and networking cables
• renovate the interior
• renovate the old wooden staircase
• install new heating system
• …

Funding is also needed for:

• consultation of professional services for renovation

We will purchase the following equipment to reach our goals

• projector
• 1x specialised computer
• 3D printer
• sound system
• monitors
• …

We will set up a Hackerspace / centre where the local community can come and create art in various diverse forms including:

• provide a space for and support theater productions
• provide a space for and support concerts
• video and visual media
• a quiet and reflective space for creative writing & literature
• design & architecture
• 3D printing courses / workshops and practice sessions
• art installations
• …

We define Hackerspace as a place of creativity where people can work individually or collectively toward our Ideals

In Heiligengrabe and the surrounding areas, there are very few cultural institutions, little cultural support for the youth, little international cultural tourism and very little theater or theater groups.

There are relatively many visual artists in the region but few exhibition venues. But in the adjoining building of Kuckucksmühle, a centuries-old, protected water mill from the 16th century, we will create a place that will fill this vacuum.

Kuckucksmühle is in the process of establishing an association to conserve the listed building, an ecological, open, self-sustaining community has already been founded, and the members want to use and develop modern, open technologies.

In the adjoining building, this project is now a house in which we want to create a hackerspace for filmmakers, writers, actors and artists. Not only can we use the networks of the aforementioned association, the Kuckucksühle is already a well-known place for events over the last decades and even the older people of the towns still gladly remember these times.

Therefore, this project not only closes a cultural gap in the region, it is also one of the best places to bring culture back to life.
