Automated garden irrigation system
Equipment needed
- Soil moisture sensors - the number of sensors needed depends on the areas to be covered - for example in a small to medium size greenhouse one sensor should be sufficient, in larger areas such as in the garden which are dried in some areas and wetter in others you will need to use more sensors.
Step 1: Connect the Soil Humidity Sensor to the Arduino
Step 2: Create a log system for temperature readings from the Soil Moisture Sensors
Step 3: Observe current readings from the Greenhouse and the Garden (desired watering areas)
At this stage you should take notes about the readings and what the soil looks like, for example at a reading of 100 the top soil is wet but only the top soil - the first 2 to 3 inches.
