This is an old revision of the document!
What is Veintidós?
Veintidós (22) is a permaculture experiment & community project in the South of Spain, (Mijas Pueblo in the Province of Málaga) to test and learn permaculture principles applied to an urban setting.
Veintidós is part of the Eco Hacker Farm project.
What goes on at the project?
We would like people to come, share their knowledge and participate in community activities linked to permaculture living.
Activities we would like to have more of:
- Foraging for food in the Mijas Sierra and in the garden
- Recycled art workshop
- Outdoor shower project
- Shared meals preparation
- Cookbook compilation
- Yoga sessions on the rooftop terrace
- Garden design project (virtual garden map)
- Companion planting database building
- Entertaining evenings with music :) maybe even with improvised instruments
Some details about past events:
- Open week at Veintidós (May 2016)
- Dinner on the terrace (July 2016)
- meditation_dreamboard_workshop (July 2016)
Do you feel that you could contribute by helping with the organisation or running of events? Let us know, we would be thrilled to have you.

Would you like to work for accommodation and food?
Workers (Team members) are given their own bedroom with basic furniture and bedding and meals provided in return for 25 hours a week contribution to the project. Tasks include taking care of the house, cooking shared meals, gardening, welcoming guests, digital online work and anything that is related to the project. We always try to match up the individual skills with the tasks however everyone is expected to contribute towards day to day chores such as cleaning and cooking.
Mijas Pueblo is a quiet little village in the Malaga region, it doesn't have any nightclubs and there are no night buses to the next town. It does however have amazing views and great hiking trails in the Mijas Sierra.
If you'd like to come do a worker stay it is important to remember that we are into permaculture, recycling and also very importantly into making the most of our limited resources (water, gas & money).
We have a strict budget for food that covers necessities (no meat) of Eur 15 per week per person. Knowing how to shop and live within a strict budget is an essential skill that is much appreciated.
We believe that eating fresh vegetables that are in season is healthy and keeps us within budget, we are also working on increasing the yield from the garden in order to become more self sufficient.
Toiletries such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste etc are not included within this budget and you should be prepared to provide your own.
Please note that we can only host 1 worker person at a time and they need to be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
If you'd like to come stay please use the form here and please let us know what is your experience with permaculture, we would also need you to confirm that you have read and understood the budget rules for the house.
The project is a safe space for everyone, all team members are expected to treat each other kindly and with respect.
When can I come?
You can view our calendar to see what we're up to and also when we have space for workers.
